Much has been talked in the press recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues because of the cigarette ban in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big tax cuts to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes while marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favored areas where folks like to smoke.

The outcome of the cigarette ban can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlours. Profits have plunged and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they have not deserted this familiar game?

The answer is on the internet. People realise that they can participate in bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and smoke and in the end, enjoy massive jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened just about perfectly with the anti smoking law.
