Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod
by Annie on Dec.31, 2015, under Bingo
Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for ages. Guests from every one of the neighboring states load up in vans and travel into Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today operate 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were founded. digital games like slot machine games weren’t permitted, because they’re believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts has altered to allow for large American Indian betting gambling halls. You will now see Amerindian gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Native casinos yet, although that is just a matter of time. Nobody can say whether having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
