An abundance has been reported in the papers not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to help keep the businesses alive. But does the internet version of this classic game present a salvation, or will it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar relative?

Bingo is an ancient game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had witnessed a recent increase in appeal with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlours instead of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti smoking law all over England and Wales.

No more will gamblers be able to smoke while marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most favored locations where many people like to smoke.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already barred in the bingo halls. Profits have plummeted and the business is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they have not given up on this classic game?

The answer is online. Gamblers realise that they can gamble on bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a beer and fag and in the end, have a chance at massive cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.
