Bingo in Oklahoma

by Annie on Feb.20, 2016, under Bingo

Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That’s because the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for years. Guests from each of the neighboring states load up in cars and travel into Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a benchmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, 23 of the 39 Native bands of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the betting laws, and today run ten casinos of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling halls were built on. Electronic games like one armed bandits weren’t permitted, on the grounds that they are thought to lead to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law have altered to allow for big Indian wagering gambling halls. You will now see Amerindian gambling halls with slot machines, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the Native gambling dens yet, but this is simply a matter of time. Nobody can authority what having different gambling den games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
