Could the Smoking Ban in England Drive Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

An abundance has been stated in the press recently regarding the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big tax cuts to help keep the businesses afloat. However will the online version of this quintessential game present a salvation, or will it not compare to its land based kin?
Bingo has been an established game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had experienced a recent increase in acceptance with younger men and women deciding to go to the bingo halls instead of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the enacting of the smoking ban across England and Wales.
No more will players be able to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favored places where many people enjoy smoking.
The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already not permitted in the bingo halls. Players have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not abandoned this age old game?
The answer is on the net. Gamblers know that they can enjoy bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and smoke and still have a chance at massive jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.
Of course gambling on on the net is unlikely to replace the communal portion of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
