Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod
by Annie on Dec.07, 2018, under Bingo
Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for many years. Clients from all of the surrounding states pile in vans and travel to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 IGRA became law after a precedent setting decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian bands located in Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Indian tribes to take advantage of the wagering rules, and today run ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were founded. digital games such as slots were not allowed, because they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma rules has changed to allow for large Indian betting casinos. You’ll now find American Indian casinos with slot machines, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the Indian gambling halls as of yet, however this is only a matter of time. Nobody can say with what having other games in the bingo parlours will do for the popularity of bingo.
