Oklahoma Bingo

Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That’s owing to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for generations. Patrons from many of the neighboring states load up in vehicles and visit Oklahoma to play Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting determination by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have established gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the gambling rules, and at this time operate 10 gambling halls of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling halls were built on. Electronic games such as one armed bandits were not allowed, because they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma law has altered to allow for big Indian gaming gambling dens. You will now discover Indian gambling halls with slots, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the Indian gambling halls as of yet, but this is simply a waiting game. No one can say whether having different games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
